3. Ori & The Will Of The Wisps

"Magical", "majestic", "heartfelt", "soul-stirring" - there's a genuinely uplifting feeling to controlling an Ori game. Will of the Wisps somehow did one better than the immaculate Blind Forest too, introducing a melee sensibility that powers you through levels even faster.

Ori itself moves like nothing else. Their mix of flips, pirouettes, wall climbs and mid-air dashes are so responsive, every combination of movement and combat you can think of, the game will factor in.

Story-wise you're on a journey to find a fallen friend somewhere in an alien forest, but these baseline thematics really start to resonate over time. Ori's score is a gorgeous, tear-inducingly beautiful mix of soaring string sections, choral vocals and light touches of piano to accentuate this tiny creature doing their best against such a hostile environment.

Over time you'll help NPCs rebuild their homes, tussle with stunningly imposing bosses and become a capable warrior mopping up every last collectible on the map.

Ori & the Will of the Wisps deserves SO much love, and I simply cannot sing its praises enough.
