20 Best Video Game Multiplayer Modes Of All Time
4. Horde - Gears Of War 2/3/4
You can't beat a good horde mode. Buddying up with friends to ward off increasingly large waves of enemy A.I. is something we've seen everywhere from Left 4 Dead to Uncharted, but it was Gears of War 2 that first pioneered the concept.
Challenging you to survive a whopping 50 waves of enemy infantry, Gears 3 started including the bosses from its single player campaign as more notable road blocks at key intervals, beating down even the most determined groups in those precious final rounds.
As a multiplayer mode it was supremely innovative, but as a group experience where you and your best pals can band together and defeat the Locust as one, it remains pretty timeless.
