The pinnacle of online team shooting, Halo's Big Team Battle felt damn-near revolutionary on consoles across the 2000s.

Keep in mind, Halo 2 going online was the first time many consumers had seen any sense of online matchup, let alone the chaos of 8v8. Goals like capturing flags or planting bombs were perfectly suited for a culture that was talking happily, discussing tactics and splintering off into miniature squads to attack and defend across the map. These were the glory days of online interaction on consoles - far away from the complete silence of today.

Halo 3 topped this off with the excellent Theatre so you could watch your proudest moments back in slow motion, but the real meat of why Halo became such a world-dominating force was because of modes like this.
