20 Best Video Game Reveals From E3 2018
18. Super Mario Party
Although 1-2-Switch wasn't an amazing game, it did prove that Nintendo's new console has far more functionality than players are used to. It promised new ways to play that Microsoft and Sony simply can't replicate - a promise which seems to have been fulfilled entirely with Super Mario Party.
Once again piling a load of mini-games designed to be cracked out locally with a few friends in one encompassing release, the reveal trailer was mostly based around how these games could be transformed by the console itself.
One, which pitched two teams in tanks against each other, was radically different depending on how the two squads laid their Switches out. The entire map could be transformed by altering the placement of the screens, with the gameplay seamlessly flowing from one console to the other no matter where they were placed.
While this functionality has been criticised as being a mere gimmick in the past, it's clear that it's essential in adding a whole new dimension to casual games like this, and is quickly becoming the secret MVP of Nintendo's new machine.
