Quantic Dream

Ever since they started making games, there's always been a joke about Quantic Dream thinking that they're way more artistic than they actually are.

And while their pretentious sensibilities often dragged down their other games, when it came to Heavy Rain all of that indulgence and inherent silliness only made Quantic Dream's over-the-top crime caper even more enjoyable.

While it tries to ape modern neo-noir epics like Se7en, the game's own self-importance gives the narrative a pulpier, campier sensibility, ultimately imbuing the game with an underlying dark sense of humour that may or may not have been intentional.

But Heavy Rain still works dramatically when it needs to, and its biggest twists ultimately pack a punch once you get to them. And while branching pathways can sometimes lead to a lopsided experience, whichever route you take through Quantic Dream's iconic PS3 game promises to be an unpredictable and incredibly emotional journey.
