20 Best Video Games Of The Decade
13. Horizon Zero Dawn
The first non-Killzone game from Guerrilla since 2004, you could tell the team were bursting with ideas.
Horizon drips colour and vibrance, its world being a "post-post-apocalypse", meaning a catastrophic past event has occurred, but life is beginning to find its way again, with nature reclaiming a lot of the land. However, the mystery centres on where so many ginormous robotic dinosaurs have come from, and the quest to find their origin is one of the most fun of the generation.
Leading lady Aloy is also a bastion for independence; a character cast out for not having a mother - only to discover her role is far more important overall.
This revelatory scene is a personal favourite, and lets Horizon be a masterful open-world game, alongside a storytelling heavyweight - a VERY hard thing to get right.
