8. Wario Land: Shake It!
Introduced in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Wario quickly took over the Super Mario Land series with the next game being Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. Since then it's been Wario's Land, not Mario's.
Unfortunately, that reign ended with Wario Land: Shake It!, an amazing game that nobody played, and because of that is currently the last game in the series.
Wario Land: Shake It! is a 2D platformer where you as Wario must navigate the Shake Dimension to rescue creatures known as Merfles. But more importantly, get rich.
Unlike Mario, Wario is only interested in coins. Saving the day is just a means to an end.
The game has such an appealing art style, something that you wouldn't really expect from the gross Wario. It has a hand-drawn aesthetic which instantly makes it one of the most visually striking games on the system.
Not only that, the gameplay is great. You have a charge attack, a butt stomp, and the ability to violently shake anything in your path, forcing them to drop coins and other valuables.
WarioWare might be coming back but when's the superior Wario series returning?
