20 Best Wii U Games Of All Time
Nintendo's worst-received console... with AWESOME games.
The Wii U might not have the sheer amount of quality titles that other Nintendo systems have, but some of the few games that did come out on the console are among the best Nintendo has ever released.
Now that's not to say that you should buy a Wii U, as practically everything on the console either has a port on the Switch or a great sequel that renders the original irrelevant. With this in mind though, it's still important not to dismiss the Wii U era as a time where nothing of quality was made as that would be naive.
The system has a lot to offer beyond the new games released for it as well.
There's the huge amount of legacy content. For example, do you want to catch up on Metroid before Dread comes out? Just buy a Wii U, you can play practically every Metroid game so far, all in one place.
Then there's the GamePad, which is a surprisingly comfortable controller that you can use to change your TV channel. Who needs a remote when you have a Wii U?
Of course, the games are what's most important, and which truly stand the test of time?
20. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
The Captain Toad levels in Super Mario 3D World were fine enough, they were nothing amazing but they were a nice change of pace every once in a while. Nobody hated the Captain Toad levels but nobody demanded a game entirely made up of them.
Nintendo doesn't really care though and develop whatever they want whether somebody wants it or not. In this case, that was for the better as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker expands upon what was established in Super Mario 3D World to create a really fun puzzle game.
In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker you play as Captain Toad or Toadette depending on who got kidnapped that week - honestly this is a nice way of establishing them both as equally incompetent.
Now since love is second to treasure, they refuse to take off their heavy backpacks where they store their loot. These are so heavy that they can't even jump so that's what the puzzles revolve around.
Yeah, there's an alright port on the 3DS and the Switch definitely has the definitive version but still, the Wii U brought us Captain Toad's misadventures with Toadette and should be appreciated for that.
