20 Biggest Games Of 2014: What Do We Already Know?
17. Watch Dogs (May 27)
Watch Dogs is one of the most controversial and widely anticipated games of the year, after being disappointingly delayed from its November date last year. Was it delayed by 6 whole months just to polish things, or were Ubisoft scared by GTA V's brilliantly-realised open world, and decided they had to spruce things up? The hype train may have died down considerably since that wonderful E3 reveal back in 2012, but the question still seems to be: can Watch Dogs live up to the ridiculous level of buzz surrounding it? The most recent trailer released revealed a lot more about the plot, that protagonist Aidan Pierce's daughter is killed by the government, and so his quest throughout the game is in revenge for that. It sounds disappointingly conventional, though hopefully the gameplay will be as game-changing as that original reveal made it look, even if hands-on impressions confirm that the graphics have been downgraded since that first trailer, which is a rather dispiriting trend nowadays. Will It Deliver? Watch Dogs will probably be one of the biggest-selling games of 2014, and though it may end up disappointing those with sky-high expectations, it'll probably be a great open-world game. Our advice: temper your expectations a little, and just try and relax.
