One of the most regular controversies pointed at by anti-GTA protesters has been the game's continued inclusion of prostitution since it first appeared in Grand Theft Auto III. The inclusion of prostitutes has been challenged in itself, but player treatment of the women has been highlighted as the most unacceptable element.

After engaging with a prostitute and losing the specified amount of in-game currency, players are able to immediately murder the woman and take their money straight back. The game never encourages players to do this, of course, but it's been met with outrage nevertheless.
