6. The Story Of Cubone's Helmet

Cubone is the Pokémon responsible for some of the most heart-wrenching moments in the first generation Pokémon games, and is even the unwilling star of the Pokémon Origins anime series that proved the now twenty-something fans of the original games will still cry like a baby at the events of a cartoon.

Alongside the harrowing tale of Cubone's orphanage is the mystery that surrounds its helmet. In its Pokédex entries from Pokémon Yellow, the encyclopaedia suggests that it "wears the skull of its deceased mother" and that no one has ever seen the lonely Pokémon's real face underneath this.

Debates about whether this is really accurate have raged for years, with many fans simply not wanting to believe such a cruel tale to be true. Sadly the generation six entries reconfirmed the explanation that the helmet is in fact that of its dead mother.
