1. The MissingNo. Glitch

As one of the most well known video game glitches in history, the MissingNo. glitch in the Pokémon games is so bizarre simply due to its popularity alone. Ask practically anyone about their time with Red & Blue and they'll be able to tell you some story about their encounter with the glitch Pokémon.

MissingNo. appeared in the first generation games with five different forms, namely Red and Blue Normal, Ghost, Aerodactyl, Kabutops, Yellow Normal. It carried no visible Pokédex entry when caught and its cry was most regularly heard to be similar to that of a male Nidoran.

The appearance of MissingNo. was said to be the result of a "programming quirk", and the existence of glitch Pokémon within the first set of games was a worldwide phenomenon. Countless players explored these for ways to exploit them, making MissingNo. ultimately more popular or well known than some genuine Pokémon from the games through the years.
