20 Comic Book Video Games You Must Play Before You Die
9. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Forget The Avengers on screen, gaming got there first for the whole "All your favourite heroes in one place" idea. Pegged as Raven Software's first top-down RPG since X-Men Legends, Marvel Ultimate Alliance didn't just hit it out the park, it damn-near high-five'd Galactus. Playing as everyone from Spider-Man to Thor, Blade and Deadpool to Elektra and Daredevil, you were tasked with putting together a four-person team to essentially stick it to Doctor Doom, one famously-located level at a time. You'd journey from the X-Mansion to Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum (answering a bunch of Marvel trivia questions along the way), the entire time interacting with a fully-voiced cast of characters including every heavyweight in the company's history. M:UA 2 would scupper this positive momentum considerably, removing features and characters for the sake of better graphics, but from the instant this original recognises you playing as The Avengers and gives you a hearty team boost, is the second it becomes a Marvelite's dream come true.
