20 Most Competitive Video Games Of All Time

14. Saturn Bomberman

It's hard to select the 'best' Bomberman title (mainly because there's so many) but as this is a list about competition and multiplayer, selecting a Bomberman game which allows up to ten players seems like a smart idea. Through the use of two Multi-taps, ten players can play Saturn Bomberman at one time in the game's Battle mode. Simply put, it's absolute mayhem. Bomberman with four players is already hectic so adding another six players makes for sheer insanity. The game map zooms out making everything look tiny just to fit everything in but there's still plenty of action to enjoy, even if your view is slightly obscured. Using the game's elimination rules, it becomes tense pretty quickly as with only one life per round you'll frantically be trying to avoid being blocked in by other players whilst simultaneously attempting to eliminated as many of your opponents as possible. It's a pretty intense experience in action. Realistically, any Bomberman title could have been on this list but Saturn's unique concept (throw as many players into the mix as possible) makes it stand out from the rest. Nowadays, having ten players in a game is fairly common. Back in 1997, it was a lot harder to make possible so well done to you if you had the setup. Now for the real challenge - finding nine friends to play with.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
