Card games have had a steep rise in popularity in recent times. With the likes of Magic: The Gathering and Blizzard's incredibly successful Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft taking over so many people's lives, it seemed developing another card game would be a good idea. The twist on the genre that Cryptozoic Entertainment added was to also make it a MMO, which must have been a concept that appealed to plenty of backers, as Hex managed to beat its Kickstarter target by over $2 million. The retail version of Hex is still getting large and regularly updates. While the game does have similarities to Magic: The Gathering, it seems Magic creators Wizards Of The Coast took exception these likenesses, and filed a lawsuit in May 2014.
