20 Crowdfunded Video Games That Made Millions

17. Massive Chalice - $1.22 Million

Massive Chalice was Double Fine's return to the world of Kickstarter. They may have been the company who showed crowdfunding to be a viable method for financing large-scale games, but they ran into a lot of problems during their first campaign. However this didn't stop over 30,000 backers giving a total of $1.2 million to their second effort - a number well in excess of the $725,000 target. Massive Chalice is a tactical turn-based strategy game set on an epic timeline. It was scheduled for release back in September 2014, but was delayed, though any backers who paid enough to get beta access were able to play it in October. Today it's available on steam in an early access version.
