20 Essential Gaming Sequels That Must Be Announced In 2014
8. Doom
It's been 9 years since the last main Doom game, the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack, hit stores, though the folks at Id Software have been busy working on Doom 4 ever since. However, after the initial pass at the game was deemed to be a mess, the project was scrapped and restarted in 2011, and it was revealed just last month that the game will actually simply be referred to as Doom, somewhat implying that it's going to probably be a franchise reboot. Series brainchild John Carmack leaving Id late last year is a shame, though given that access to the game's beta is going to be granted alongside those who pre-order Wolfenstein: The New Order, it's safe to say that the game is almost definitely going to be properly unveiled this year, short of an unexpected, cataclysmic failure. If Id were smart, they'd reveal it at E3, just days after Wolfenstein launches, ensuring people don't forget about that beta code leaflet sitting inside their game box.
