Sadly, it looks like Nintendo's struggled to keep the Star Fox series relevant for modern audiences.

They tried something different with Star Fox Adventures, completely overturning the traditional formula of the franchise, simultaneously alienating fans of the old games while attracting a new audience that enjoyed adventuring rather than shooting.

Although the recent Star Fox Zero has returned to the series' roots, its so far failed to attract any popularity, which is totally bizarre, because Star Fox 64 is essentially the precursor to the Wii U game, and is still lauded today as one of the greatest games ever made for the N64.

I guess consumer tastes have drastically changed over the last 19 years.
