20 Essential N64 Games You Must Play Before You Die

7. Conker's Bad Fur Day

Only Rare would have the audacity to completely repurpose a game originally meant for a younger audience just to prove that they weren't a one-trick pony studio creating samey, family-friendly adventure games for the masses.

Conversely, if the contemporary press hadn't criticised Conker's original guise, we probably wouldn't have the potty-mouthed, alcoholic and outright crude red squirrel that we ended up with.

Why Microsoft hasn't put Rare to work on a direct sequel to Bad Fur Day (Live & Reloaded doesn't count, despite being a great remake), is truly baffling.

The original has a huge cult following, and is one of few games that is consistently funny with by way of excellent writing and a preference for parodies.
