20 Essential N64 Games You Must Play Before You Die
4. The Legend Of Zelda: Majora's Mask
Is there any more obvious tell that a game is passionately-loved by everyone who's played it than fan theories? If there is, I've yet to see it. And no, I'm not talking about that ridiculous Creepypasta story about a haunted Majora's Mask cartridge.
From the Groundhog Day-esque game structure that alludes to Link being stuck in a form of limbo to the seemingly oblivious nature of Termina's residents as the Moon brings them ever closer to oblivion, there's no doubt that Majora's Mask has a much darker tone than its brethren.
But you can choose to ignore all of that and just see it as a spin-off of Ocarina, a little fun little side journey for the Hero of Time where he doesn't have to worry about Ganondorf taking over Hyrule every second of the day.
In essence, I'm talking about layers. You know, like onions. Eh. Shrek explains it better.
