13. The Library - Halo
BungieThe original Halo is a marvelous, ground-breaking console FPS that nevertheless hits troubled water in its seventh mission, The Library, an infamously long, irritating mission that most players are looking forward to skipping when the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection hits Xbox One. The level has Master Chief fighting his way through about half-a-dozen different corridors which all basically look the same, while an impossible number of Flood are hurled at you, resulting in countless deaths for most players. If each of the sections looked a little different or there was a variation in the enemies sicked on you, then perhaps this might not suck so much, but as it stands, it's easily the most complained-about mission in any Halo game, and a groansome aside in an otherwise exemplary campaign. We're all for a game that's tough, but this was just difficult and boring: it wasn't intelligent or particularly fair, and sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the game. Hate it, hate it, hate it.
