George Lucas positioned Star Wars as the first epic cross-branding opportunity, with a multitude of toys, games, clothes, sweets and everything else that could fit a Star Wars logo on its side. So it should go without saying, this included many video games - of varying quality.

One of the highlights of the direct film tie-ins is Revenge of the Sith, which arrived just as 3D video game graphics had caught up enough to represent these films in a sure-footed and recognisable aesthetic. The game is built around lightsaber combat and offers players the opportunity to tackle a campaign that journeys through all the major backdrops of the film, cutting down droids and troopers and duelling Jedi and Sith along the way.

Now, Episode III is the most beloved of the Star Wars sequels, but that doesn't mean there aren't opportunities for improvement - and the game shows us how. It dispenses with much of the more tedious stuff, wrangling what is at times a choppy and lax film plot into a much tighter game, really focusing us in on the important parts of the film, while  treating us to more characters and an alternate ending. And it's the little Easter eggs, like additional playable character Cin Drallig, that enhance the film itself, giving us small but fun things to look out for and some additional lore to boot.
