20 Greatest Ever Pokemon Designs

3. Suicune

Suicune

I've always liked legendries, in an abstract way even if not in a full hearted way, but for my money the best designed one has got to be Suicune. From the second generation and part of the dog-set of legendries, it is a creature that has always appealed to me in the best sort of way. Remember that guy that was always hunting it? (Eusine, I think his name was - the main thing I remember about him was that he was wearing a cape) Yeah, I was always that guy. I don't know if it was because its inspiration was drawn partially from Chinese dragons, or because of the mystery conveyed by its aurora-borealis resembling mane - but the moment I saw it I just had to have it. I saved my Master Ball just so I could catch it, I hunted it to the ends of the earth and beyond. I was also interested because, yet again, it was another dog-Pokémon. I've already mentioned how it was one of the dog-set of legendries, and I've always found it the most appealing one. It resembles a dog with its snout and general stance, but its crest and mane give it a more mythical tint entirely suited to making it a legendary. It's also a lot sleeker than the average dog, which adds another bit of difference that makes its design even more appealing. Suicune wasn't just based on a dog, but a whole variety of creatures. There are catlike influences in its spots resembling a leopard. There are also hints of deer, in its horns, and hints of unicorns in the graceful way it€™s designed. It looks like a whole mish-mash of things, but an elegant mish-mash that suits it absolutely perfectly. As do the nods to water in its design. Suicune is the obligatory water member of the legendary trio, much like Articuno, and it looks like a water Pokémon should. Its design is done in shades of blue, that make it look cool and icy. Its mane looks slightly like mist and its tail resembles a river. It looks like a symbol of the rain that quenched the fire at the burned tower (Suicune's origin story), and so conveys its purpose wonderfully. Suicune has always appealed to me for many reasons, and I think that it will always remain my favourite legendary Pokémon. It is a creature of grace and beauty, made up of many different parts put together wonderfully. It is a dog, a cat, a deer, a unicorn and the perfect symbol of rain. It is a superb creature all around. And, for that, it just has to be commended as an absolutely wonderful design.
