20 Greatest Female Video Game Characters Of All Time

8. Clementine (The Walking Dead)

Although it seems like a no-brainer that a character as great as Clementine would feature so high on this list, it's actually quite amazing just how much Telltale could have messed up in creating this young survivor. Writing children isn't always easy (especially in video games) so the fact that the developers crafted Clementine to be more than just a cheap way to get players emotionally invested into the story was little more than a miracle. And this difficulty must have only doubled when making Clem the playable character of Walking Dead's season two. While not being a capable, strong guy who can take on walkers and give out advice was a genius move in making you feel vulnerable in the post-apocalyptic world, it could have easily felt like you were never allowed to take control of any situation. After all, when the world goes to hell, who's going to take orders from a little girl? But Telltale managed to balance this perfectly, focusing on fleshing out Clem as a character and chronicling how she had developed since the devastating events of the first season. No longer the lovable innocent companion, season two Clementine felt just as complex as the grown up characters, and the release was all the better for it.
