20 Greatest First-Person Shooter Levels Of All Time

17. Unexpected Turbulence - No One Lives Forever

200033_no-one-lives-forever_1600x1200_www.GdeFon.ru_-600x300 No-one Lives Forever was a brilliant yet under appreciated shooter. You played as Cate Archer- the female equivalent of James Bond and the game itself really captured the essence of the 1960s. Cate had that dry wit and her gadgets also came in the guise of everyday womanly objects. This level starts after you help Dr. Otto Schenker, an East German scientist defect- you are on a plane bound for London. This would make for quite boring gameplay so for good measure, a very stereotypical, ginger, kilt wearing Scotsman who works for H.A.R.M (the games evil organization) decides to hijack the plane and kidnap the good doctor. After the Scotsman K.Os Cate, his lackey asks the inevitable question- why don't you just kill her? To which he replies that he won't kill a fellow countryman without holding a grudge, if she wakes up she can fend for herself, if she dies, well then she wasn't a true Scot.

16. Manchester Cathedral - Resistance

The third level of Resistance sees Nathan Hale fly to Manchester to join up with more British Forces after his escape from a Chimera Conversion Center in Grimsby. One standout set piece in this level was the depiction of Manchester Cathedral were you had to fight off a horde of Leapers- due to there being a conveniently placed Breeding Ground at the Cathedral. This of course garnered a great deal of controversy, most notably from the leaders of the Church of England who got a bit annoyed about the violence depicted in such a Holy place. I'm sorry- have they not read the Old Testament?
