20 Greatest Gaming Consoles Of All Time

11. GameCube

Developer: Nintendo Release: 2001 Notable Games: Resident Evil 4, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine It was with the GameCube that the once infallible Nintendo first seemed to really be slipping. A polarising console, the GameCube was plasticky and genuinely looked like a toy - completely against the trend that was being set by the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The GameCube was also marketed heavily towards families and young gamers, which was puzzling considering its excellent library of mature games. Resident Evil 4, Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime were all critically acclaimed, and definitely not for children. The GameCube is often overlooked thanks to Nintendo's dodgy marketing, but the dozens of must-play games for the console have ensured its place among the best.
