Developer: Nintendo Release: 2006 Notable Games: Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword There'll be a lot of hardcore gamers that might roll their eyes at the inclusion of the Wii on this list, but the console has contributed significantly towards getting gaming where it is today (for better or worse.) While Nintendo's competitors were making big advancements in graphics technology, the Wii aimed to change how we play games, while opening them up to a more casual audience. A lot of the Wii's success can be attributed to Nintendo's decision to bundle the console with Wii Sports. The games featured in Wii Sports, such as bowling and tennis, made great use of the Remote. This made playing games a totally intuitive experience, rather than the abstraction of simply pressing buttons on a controller. The embrace of casual gamers, while still offering great games like Metroid Prime 3 and Super Mario Galaxy, means that the Wii is more than worthy of its place on this list.
