The Fallout series is remarkable for its mix of a compelling, post-apocalyptic world and wry sense of humour. Fallout 3 was a great release, it took the series thematically in a slightly different direction to what long-term fans were comfortable with. On the other hand, Fallout: New Vegas managed to successfully blend the grey morality and open-ended narrative of the originals with modern aesthetics and first-person gameplay. Set in the Mojave Wasteland, it appeased both newcomers and Fallout veterans with its hugely entertaining quests and expansive world that could be easily lost in for hundreds of hours. Thanks to the inclusion of RPG veterans Obsidian Entertainment, Fallout: New Vegas was a well-written, memorable journey through the Wasteland, and one of the best RPGs from the last decade.
