Deus Ex is a game that's notoriously difficult to put a definitive label on. It's at once a stealth, RPG, platformer and action game. Thanks to the first-person view and the ability to play the game as a straightforward action title if you so wish, Deus Ex is still more than deserving of appearing on a list about shooters. In many ways, Deus Ex is a game that has yet to be surpassed, with regards to player choice in the gameplay. Every encounter and situation can be handled in multiple ways, many of which were never thought of or intended by the developers in the first place. The narrative was somehow able to cope and keep with this highly dynamic gameplay, ultimately bringing everything to a satisfying conclusion. One of the greatest games ever made, Deus Ex wasn't just ahead of its time, but ahead of most titles released today.
