20 Greatest Strategy Games Of All Time

2. StarCraft

Developer: Blizzard Entertainment Released: 1998 As well as being one of the best and most popular real-time strategies ever made, StarCraft is also a tremendously important release in a number of ways. The game's use of totally unique factions helps to keep battles fresh and interesting, while the single-player campaign offers one of the most compelling, cinematic narratives of any strategy games. It's the multiplayer that's really cemented StarCraft's legendary status though. The game helped to popularise eSports, and StarCraft is still incredibly popular among spectators in South Korea, with entire television stations dedicated to the game's tournaments. A cultural phenomenon, StarCraft is still the standard by which every modern RTS release is judged.
