18 Greatest Video Game Villains Of The 2000s

2. Edgar Ross - Red Dead Redemption

Never has there been a more satisfying dollop of retribution served up on a platter made of sheer purpose and righteousness than Red Dead's closing scenes that see you taking the fight to one Edgar Ross. A really sinister piece of work, Ross' tactic to essentially hold John Marston's family at ransom for the entire game, forcing him to do deal with past demons and track down the equally morally-hollow Bill Williamson, Ross snakes his way in and out of Marston's life after this to keep up appearances - making for a crazy twist at the very end when it turns out he really does get the last laugh. However all that does is set him up as a man who not only can't keep his word, but who also robbed new character Jack Marston of a father, setting up some very powerful motives to track him down and close the game properly.
