Developer: Undead Labs Released: 2013 Platform: Xbox 360, PC, Xbox One The first game from developers Undead Labs, State of Decay is a monumentally impressive addition to the open world zombie survival genre. The game centres around a group of survivors, as they battle against the undead hordes, search a huge environment for supplies, and carefully use a large variety of limited supplies to stay alive. While State of Decay does feature a storyline along its campaign, it's fiercely non-linear and allows for a sandbox style of play. The game begins with Marcus Campbell and his friend returning from a fishing trip, only to find that the world has been overtaken by a zombie apocalypse. From there, it's possible to meet up with small groups just trying to survive, and renegades hoping to benefit from the chaos. How the player goes about progressing in State of Decay is entirely up to them, be it following the campaign story or just roaming around the landscape as they wish, as the apocalypse steadily increases in deadliness.
