Though it's no secret at all that Quake's music was composed by Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, you probably didn't know that the game's protagonist - aka Quakeguy/Ranger - was voiced by Reznor also.
All those grunts and death rattles you can hear during gameplay were performed by Reznor himself, and while it's tough to notice during gameplay, the isolated voiceover files make it much easier to discern his distinctive vocal tenor.
