8. Kingdom Hearts Was Greenlit Because Of A Literal Elevator Pitch

Here's a rare example of a literal elevator pitch that led to the beginnings of a legendary video game franchise. 

The concept of Disney-themed RPG Kingdom Hearts was first cooked up during a conversation between developers Shinji Hashimoto and Hironobu Sakaguchi.

And though Tetsuya Nomura, who overheard their chatter, was swiftly brought aboard as director, the game didn't get the greenlight until Hashimoto luckily ended up in an elevator with a Disney executive.

Because Square and Disney worked in the same Japanese building at the time, Hashimoto was able to make his swift pitch, which was evidently accepted.
