12. Pac-Man's Design Was Inspired By A Pizza
Though you might've assumed, like many, that Pac-Man was both named and designed after a hockey puck, that's not even remotely true.
As it turns out, designer Toru Iwatani was partially influenced by a pizza he had while out at lunch one day.
Someone took a slice, leaving a gaping mouth-like void, and in turn inspiring a character design which would become near-instantly iconic upon Pac-Man's release.
