20 Infuriating Video Game Bosses Nobody Beat First Time

2. Ornstein And Smough (Dark Souls)

It wouldn€™t be an article about video game bosses without the inclusion of Smough and Ornstein, would it? The one-two punch of a boss battle is easily the hardest section of 2011€™s Dark Souls, and quite frankly one of the most challenging boss battles ever seen in any video game ever. Just fighting one of these guys would be hard enough, but the fact that they cant both rush you means that facing off with both proves to be both a case of long-haul endurance and occasionally, pure luck. Worst of all, just when you think you€™re getting the hang of the two beasts and manage to whittle the bosses down to only one, the remaining enemy transforms into their more dangerous and more aggressive form, gaining new abilities and tactics that you have to learn all over again. Usually you gain a sense of renewed confidence if you take out one of a pair of bosses in a game, but with Ornstein and Smough the stakes only get higher the longer the fight goes on.
