3. Ned Luke (Michael) Is The Only Known Video Game Voice Actor To Gain Weight For A Role
One of the more interesting facts about GTA V's performance capture process is that Ned Luke, who voiced Michael, actually gained a whole 25 pounds of weight to play the character, in order to give a more distinct impression of an over-the-hill guy who hasn't been particularly active over the last few years. Luke's commitment to the role reflects the infamous weight gain for parts undertaken by the likes of Robert De Niro (Raging Bull), Jared Leto (Chapter 27) and Christian Bale (from The Machinist to Batman Begins) in the pursuit of great art, though it appears to be the first time that a video game voice actor has ever taken such drastic steps to convey such physicality. With performance capture becoming increasingly popular in the creation of cinematic cut-scenes, expect this sort of thing to become much more common over the next few years.
