9. Jack & Rose's Dialogue Was Inspired By Kojima's Own Marriage
Hideo Kojima sure does love his movies, so it's no secret that the namesakes of Raiden/Jack and his partner Rose are inspired by the hit James Cameron movie Titanic.
Yet the actual beat-by-beat dialogue is heavily informed by something else entirely - Kojima's relationship with his own wife.
According to Kojima, when Rose asks Jack what day tomorrow is, and he forgets that it's the anniversary of their first meeting, it's intended to mirror Kojima's own forgetfulness while dating his wife, who would similarly ask him the same question in the hope of prompting his memory.
