20 Moments That Made The Resident Evil Series Iconic

13. Live Action Cutscene – Resident Evil

Resident Evil might be renowned for many things – tense gameplay, inventing the survival horror genre, the eerie soundtrack – but the acting isn’t one of them. In fact, the game has some of the worst voice acting in the history of video games, which is quite a feat in itself.

The tone for this was set early on by the famously cheesy live action cutscene, where a bunch of really terrible actors dress up as the characters and get chased around by rubbery dog creatures. The whole thing might be cheap and silly, but it’s somehow really memorable and endearing too.

The uncut version also displayed a healthy amount of gore and made sure gamers knew Resident Evil had earned that mature rating.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
