20 More Things Only Dark Souls Fans Will Understand
10. Never Underestimating A Single Enemy
To underestimate an enemy in Dark Souls will be your downfall. No matter what enemy it is, absolutely anything can and will kill you.
Everyone who's played Dark Souls learns this very, very quickly. While lowly grunts in other games are just cannon-fodder, in Dark Souls, every player has surely died by accident to even the lowliest Hollow at some point.
That's why when playing Dark Souls you are absolutely hyper-alert to everything in the environment. You may spot an enemy in the distance, but to really play well, you've got to pay attention to your back as well because his mate just sneaked up behind you and has now backstabbed you to death.
While the bosses rightfully earn their keep as the trickiest fights in Dark Souls, you've probably lost count of the amount of times the normal enemies have killed you too as you make your way to the boss area.
There's so many examples of unassuming, suddenly deadly creatures too. What about the stupid rats, which can mob you in pairs or threes and inflict you with poison almost instantly? What about the giant skeleton who kicks you suddenly to your death off a cliff? You've always got to have eyes in the back of your head for this one.
