20 MORE Video Game Bosses That Forced You To CHEAT

1. Groal The Great - Hollow Knight: Silk Song

Hollow Knight Silksong
Team Cherry

Though there are many, many moments in Hollow Knight: Silksong that'll test your patience, nothing fills players with more dread than fighting (and losing) to Groal the Great again and again... and again.

Firstly, you must contend with a gauntlet of enemies before reaching the overgrown toad, so your health will be diminished before the fight begins. The battle itself is punishing, with Groal relying on projectile spamming, inhale attacks, and summoning enemies. It's hard to find a practical spot to stand, since the arena is filled with energy-sapping water.

Ironically, this revolting water can be your salvation. If players remain in the pool in the bottom corners, you can stay mostly safe while Groal cycles through his attacks. The idea is to remain hidden in the edges, only briefly jumping out to land a hit before retreating.

Obviously, you can't just sit in the poison pool constantly since it'll deplete your health bar. However, occasionally dipping into the water when Groal attacks should ensure you'll lose less health than if you fought the accursed amphibian outright.

Groal may be considered the hardest boss in the game, but this approach can turn him into one of the easiest.
