2. The Rock/Duke Nukem (Duke Nukem Franchise)
Initially, Duke Nukem was the strong silent type: it wasnt until the third game that he developed the hyper-confident, p*ss-taking uber-macho persona we know and love today. Similarly, The Rock had to find his own voice as an arrogant heel, speaking in the third person and contemptuously raising an eyebrow at the people before he would truly get over with the WWF crowd. Both men are traditional action heroes and cheerful parodies of the traditional action hero at one and the same time, and both men have the massive egos and unlikely herculean physiques to match. In point of fact, in Duke Nukem Forever, Dukes ego is actually capable of protecting him from physical harm, like a narcissistic force shield. And obviously the final thing the two have in common we were made to wait years for a comeback, and when it actually happened it was so underwhelming that we wondered why theyd bothered. Second-rate mechanics, dated humour, tedious presentation: a rough performance all round, and Duke Nukem Forever was pretty terrible too.
