My original article paired Big Dave up with Kratos from God Of War, but WhatCulture commenter BJ Finnlann suggested I have a look at Marcus Fenix for a slightly better fit. Cheers, fella. One of the most renowned badasses in gaming, and also one of the most divisive characters in gaming, the hulking Marcus Fenix is the primary protagonist in the Gears Of War series, a professional soldier deadened by years of brutality and personal sacrifice. Hes also fairly unpopular in certain critical quarters, considered just a big man with a big gun, despite the convoluted backstory cooked up to try and give him some depth. Quite apart from the physical resemblance, that makes Fenix a perfect match for Batista, a successful fan favourite during the Ruthless Aggression era in WWE that hasnt fared quite as well in recent years. Still, its unlikely that Batistas sweating his rejection by the WWE faithful in 2014, given his recent movie stardom with Marvel and Bond. Theres more to life than a babyface pop on Monday Night RAW, after all.
