20 Most Embarrassing Video Game Moments Of The Decade
17. The Launch Of Grand Theft Auto Online
One of the many, many selling points of Grand Theft Auto V was its promised multiplayer mode, but it wasn't released at launch, instead coming a couple weeks after. Assumedly this was done so players could take in the story mode beforehand - and so Rockstar could prepare their servers for the unprecedented amount of traffic that was to come.
When Grand Theft Auto Online finally launched however, things were rocky to say the least. Server issues were widespread, as many players weren't even able to connect to matches for days (it took me four hours of constant trying to finally connect).
Even once connected, fans were greeted with a tutorial that some couldn't even get past, thanks again to server issues. This is without mentioning the heists, which were one of the biggest factors of online play. They would be delayed time and time again before finally being released over a full year after GTA Online was up and running.
While today, the multiplayer is a lot smoother, fans will never forget the disastrous beginning stages.
