Metal Gear Solid V. Grand Theft Auto V. Street Fighter V. Halo 5. They all have one thing in common and it's not just the number five, but major controversy.

Metal Gear Solid V starts us out for reasons other than the whole Kojima and Konami drama that surrounded the game (which will come further on in this list - spoiler alert). MGSV was supposed to be the game where we finally found out why Big Boss became the mega villain everyone knows him as. What we got instead was an unfinished game that in no way went into what the hell made Big Boss break like promised.

Grand Theft Auto V is on here for one reason, and one reason only - heists. They were promised shortly after the game launched in 2013, and wouldn't be delivered for nearly two years. Yes, GTA Online is an absolute juggernaut now but that's come with time. In its infancy, there were a lot of broken promises fans had to look past.

Street Fighter V was released entirely unfinished, it didn't feature an arcade mode and a story mode wouldn't come out for five months. The game at launch was essentially only playable online, and with Capcom's Pro Tour conveniently happening shortly after launch it was clear the game was rushed and released to take advantage.

Lastly, is Halo 5 (although not stylized as "V", it still counts). Fans were lead to believe the campaign would feature an epic showdown between Master Chief, who was supposedly an outcast and shunned by the UNSC, and Locke. Instead, they were given a measly fist fight between the two before they decide to team up and take down Cortana, who is shoehorned back into the series after her "death." Oh, and about Chief being AWOL, he simply said "nah" to coming back right away after a mission and instead investigated a cryptic message from Cortana.

It's safe to say five just isn't a lucky number.
