The Hype: And finally, it's by far the most exciting and hyped release of the end-year period, Mario's first flagship outing on the Switch: Super Mario Odyssey.

You know the score: Mario needs to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser as per usual while traversing a series of distinct and colourful worlds, but there's one major new wrinkle: Mario's cap.

Mario's cap, referred to as Cappy, can be used to possess enemies and certain inanimate objects, creating a wealth of additional possibilities and introducing a truly innovative new mechanic to the franchise.

Everything shown off from the game so far suggests another deliriously entertaining adventure for Mario, and whether it's a masterpiece or merely great, it's going to be a huge Switch-seller this winter.
