20 Most Intense Video Game Moments Of The Decade

18. Horizon: Zero Dawn - Fighting A Thunderjaw

Horizon: Zero Dawn is full of interesting and compelling enemies, but the most intense one to fight is definitely the Thunderjaw. Based on a T-Rex, the metallic monster puts up a hell of a fight when you encounter them.

There are a couple of bosses who are more difficult, but then the game fully sets you up for a boss battle. You pretty much know when they’re all coming, and there’s time to resupply and restock.

Thunderjaws can be encountered in the open world in tougher areas of the map, and stumbling into one for the first time can be intense. Stormbirds are pretty tough too, but don’t quite match up to the might of the Thunderjaws.

Horizon: Zero Dawn isn’t short of emotional intensity either. Some may have saw Rost’s death coming, but for those who didn’t, it was a moment of real power. Regardless of whether you were expecting it or not, taking Aloy back to Rost’s home and hearing her talk to his grave like he’s still there is intense stuff.

That’s entirely optional too, although you’re missing out if you don’t experience it.
