2. Halo 4
Arguably the most anticipated game of 2012, and boy did it deliver. Unsurprising was the series traditional tight combat and jaw-dropping graphics, however, the heart-rending tale about Master Chief and Cortanas love was a powerful new addition to a story that had hitherto been merely serviceable. Equally as intriguing as the campaign is Halos Spartan Ops mode, a free episodic co-op series that takes place after Halo 4s campaign in which a team of Spartans lands on the mysterious planet known as Requiem and conduct various military operations. The idea of seasonal content for games is definitely an intriguing one, and both Halo 4 and The Walking Dead have made a solid case for it. Many were concerned that 343 Industries wouldn't be able to create a numbered sequel worthy of the series. Luckily, it seems that the developer has more than delivered with the masterful Halo 4.
