10. Far Cry 4

Far Cry 3 was certainly a fun game packed to the rafters with expertly-delivered dialogue and a free-form open-world that encouraged experimentation whenever you came across enemy encampments, but 4 took that ethos and perfected it. The story for one is far tighter, but it's in giving you the initial late-game unlock of a wingsuit right off the bat that meant verticality was suddenly something you were seeking out. A contextual grappling hook helps you get around, weapons are plentiful and varied, animations now include jacking people from cars to chain everything together into a ridiculous spectacle of Hollywood-style fun, Ubisoft's hefty production budget ensuring it all looks positively gorgeous. And then there are the elephants you can tame and ride into battle, flipping jeeps and tossing guards into the sea. It's... well it's just brilliant, to be honest.
