20 Most Replayable Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

You could tell when Morrowind and Oblivion dropped in 2002 and 2006 respectively, Bethesda were destined for great things. Many fans still delight in their older releases thanks to the primitive game engine being part of the charm, but by the time the studio pushed past the start of the decade and were thoroughly into developing Skyrim, every single screenshot proved it was going to be their magnum opus. As such, Skyrim remains the greatest RPG of our time; a genuine world of interworking cogs comprising NPC behaviours and routines, ludicrous amounts of art assets rendering everything from swords to sweet rolls, recorded lines of dialogue that must be in the tens of thousands, and a game engine that retains the old-school charm of Elder Scrolls' history, but pushes forward with cinematic finishing moves and endless gameplay variation. By my money I can't see them ever topping Skyrim, it's like the 2001: A Space Odyssey or The Godfather of video games - a true masterpiece that we can only gaze up at and admire forever.
